The operational problem

Instrumentation on a dam, a repository or a heavy foundation reports on the points the owner chose to measure, and is operated by the organisation that runs the site. Movement between the instruments, or somewhere no one expected, is not seen.

Boards, insurers and regulators increasingly ask for evidence that does not come from the operator. Satellite InSAR provides it: millimetre-scale deformation across the whole surface, backwards in time, without installing any new hardware.

Method

LITHOS retrieves and processes public InSAR archives, EGMS and LiCSAR, into deformation time series you can trust because they can be re-run.

Historical baseline
We start in existing archives. You get years of deformation history from day one, without deploying a single sensor.
Full-surface measurement
Millimetre-scale movement across the whole site and the surrounding terrain, not only the instrumented points. Trends and anomalies appear where they actually occur.
Independent and open
The source code is open (Apache 2.0), published on PyPI. Method and result can be reprocessed and verified by any third party. That auditability is the entire point of an independent layer.

Evidence

LITHOS is published software, not a plan. It is installable today and builds on European InSAR infrastructure with millimetre precision and continental coverage.

This is a second layer, not a first one: it complements geotechnical instrumentation, provides independent evidence rather than a regulatory approval, and follows satellite revisit intervals rather than reporting in real time.
